Speech Therapy
Treatment for fluency and speech sound disorders using a variety of evidence-based treatment techniques. Specialized techniques used at Speak Life include Dynamic and Temporal Tactile Cueing for motor speech disorders such as childhood apraxia of speech; PROMPT; Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol; Talk Tools Oral Placement Therapy; and, gestural cueing for individual sounds.
Language Therapy
Evidence-based treatment for language disorders which may impact vocabulary, reading/auditory comprehension, grammar, pre- and early literacy skills, and/or social skills. Specialized treatment techniques used at Speak Life include Orton-Gillingham techniques for phonics; Visualizing and Verbalizing by Lindamood-Bell; awareness and use of a variety of behavioral modification techniques; and the Social Thinking curriculum by Michelle Garcia Winner.
Oral Motor & Feeding Therapy
Treatment for oral motor skills and feeding therapy to address issues related to tongue-tie, tongue thrust, swallowing difficulties, food aversions, or a limited repertoire of foods (training in Functional Assessment and Remediation of Tethered Oral Tissues by Robyn Merkel-Walsh and Lori Overland; CAN-EAT approach; Sensory-Motor Feeding by Lori Overland; Sequential Oral Sensory Feeding Program; training and certification in Vital-Stim.)
